Basic Cornbread Recipe

Basic Corn Bread Recipe

INGREDIENTS

* 3/4 cup cornmeal
* 1 cup milk
* 1/2 cup wholewheat flour
* 1/2 cup allpurpose flour
* 4 tsp baking powder
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 1 egg
* 1/3 cup oil

INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 400F and lightly grease a 9-inch square pan. Mix the cornmeal and milk in a small bowl so the cornmeal can soak while preparing the rest of the ingredients. In a large bowl mix together the flours, baking powder and sugar. Mix the egg and oil together well and stir into the cornmeal. Add the cornmeal to the flour and stir to moisten. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the pan. The corn bread recipe is ready to make 16 squares.Enjoy it !

hi, here is a simple eaiest recipe for basic southern cornbread. preheat oven to 400-425; get a 8 inch cats iron skillet and add 1 or 2 tblspoons shortening and put in oven and get it hot hot. 1 cup buttermilk(or 1tbls vinegar) and add milk to one cup)_1 teaspoon salt,1/2t baking soda,one egg. mix the dry,mix the wetfold to gether till all is wet pour into HOT skillet stirring shortening into the batter bake 20 to 25 minutes .variations are, add 3 tablspoons flour a can of creamed corn small can diced green ciles and cheese grated, same method same time same disapearance.
